The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), in its role as the coordinating institution of the Energytran project and a key actor in Ibero-American scientific cooperation, held a national meeting on 10 December 2025 in Madrid entitled “Scientific cooperation for a just and sustainable energy transition: towards the 2026 Ibero-American Summit”.
The main objective of the event was to disseminate the results of the Energytran project and to promote a multi-stakeholder dialogue among representatives from the public sector, the private sector, academia and civil society. This exchange contributed to enriching the policy documents developed within the framework of the project and to advancing their transformation into concrete public policy recommendations, with a view to their submission by the OEI to the XXX Ibero-American Summit.
Through this initiative, the OEI sought to support Ibero-American governments in the design and implementation of public policies based on technical inputs and scientific evidence, aimed at fostering a just and sustainable energy transition.
The meeting brought together institutions representing the different sectors involved in the energy transition, including the public sector, the private sector, academia and civil society, as well as the European partners of the Energytran consortium: IPS, INESTEC, EU-Solaris, LifeWatch-ERIC and CSIC.
This institutional diversity ensured a plural and balanced exchange, combining business, scientific, social and policy perspectives, with the aim of generating viable, coherent and adaptable proposals for action at both national and international levels.
