The Spanish National Biodiversity Information Node (GBIF Spain), managed by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, took part in the international course “Environmental Challenges and Open Science”, recently held in San José, Costa Rica, under the framework of the #EnergyTRAN project.
The event, hosted by the National Center for High Technology (CeNAT), brought together experts from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean to reflect on the links between open science, innovation and sustainability, providing a key space to strengthen networks and share good practices.
In this context, Francisco Pando (GBIF Spain) delivered the seminar “Open Science and Biodiversity” as part of the module “Open Scientific Knowledge”. This initiative promotes free and collaborative access to scientific knowledge through the use of open licenses, repositories and collaborative methodologies, all fundamental tools for addressing major environmental challenges.
Pando’s contribution was framed within a multidisciplinary and action-oriented approach that supports the sustainable management of biodiversity and fosters open science at the international level.
