From May 19 to 21, an international workshop on Science and Technology Indicators for the Energy Transition was held in Seville, Spain, hosted at the Cultural Initiatives Center of the University of Seville (CICUS).
The event is part of the Energytran Project, a European Union-funded initiative that brings together eleven partners from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal to promote a fair and sustainable energy transition.
The opening ceremony featured the participation of the Rector of the University of Seville, Miguel Ángel Castro Arroyo; Laura Trama from the Science and Technology Observatory of the OEI; Christos Arvanitidis, Executive Director of LifeWatch ERIC; and Paula Arranz Sevillano, Project Manager at the Department of Higher Education and Science of the OEI.
After a year and a half of intense collaborative work, the project is now entering its final phase, moving forward with key upcoming activities, including this workshop. The event featured significant scientific exchanges, such as that of CENIT (UNSAM, Argentina) to the European consortium LifeWatch ERIC, as well as visits by the Science, Technology and Society Observatory of the OEI and RICYT to Spanish institutions.
The shared agenda aimed to promote exchange between Latin American and European partners such as INE, Fundación Renovables, IPS, and INESCTEC. The OEI highlighted the importance of dialogue and international cooperation in addressing the global challenge of the energy transition.
